Most people ask an AI tool to “rewrite my homepage” and get back the same paragraph wearing fancier adjectives. The fix isn’t a better model. It’s a better brief.
This post gives you a prompt that makes ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini or Perplexity study a homepage section first, find what’s weak or missing, and only then write replacement copy you can paste into WordPress or Elementor. You’ll get the full prompt, the exact way to feed it your URL and a screenshot, and a real before-and-after from the hero section of this site.
Why does “rewrite this section” produce weak copy?
Because the AI has nothing to work with. It sees ninety words and polishes ninety words. It doesn’t know who buys, what proof exists, what competitors say, or what the section is supposed to do on the page.
Three things go wrong almost every time.
- It invents proof. Fake numbers, fake awards, a made-up “10 years of experience.”
- It keeps the old structure even when the structure is the problem.
- It writes for nobody in particular, so every sentence could sit on a competitor’s site.
The prompt below deals with all three: it forces an analysis step, bans invented facts, and demands a clearly marked placeholder wherever real data is missing.
What does the prompt make the AI do?
It runs in ten steps. In plain terms:
- Analyzes first. Search intent, missing entities, weak or generic claims, missing trust signals, and whether the section should exist at all.
- Finds the information gap. What the section says, what it fails to explain, what a useful version would cover.
- Rebuilds instead of polishing. Plain, human language. No “world-class” or “trusted partner.”
- Writes for Google and AI answer engines together. It states what the business does, who it serves and how it works in sentences that are easy to quote.
- Suggests internal links with anchor text, destination and the exact sentence to place them in.
- Outputs a clean final block with no commentary, then runs a silent 19-point quality check before answering.
How do you use it with your own URL and screenshot?
Copy the prompt from the section further down. At the very bottom is an INPUT area. Fill in four things there.
- A screenshot of one section. The hero, the services block, the about strip. Never the whole page.
- Your page URL, plus the section text pasted in. Some AI tools can’t open links, and a link doesn’t tell the AI which section you mean.
- Business facts you can verify. What you sell, who buys it, your location, proof you can back up (reviews with a named source, results, client types), your main keyword, two or three competitors.
- What sits above and below the section, so the AI doesn’t repeat a claim the neighboring section already makes.
Send one section per message, in the same chat. The prompt tells the AI to keep sections consistent and remove duplication as you go.
Here’s what a filled-in input looks like:
INPUT
Screenshot: [attach image of the section]
Page URL: https://yourdomain.com/
Existing section text: [paste the text]
Business info: [what you sell, who buys it, location,
proof you can verify, main keyword, competitors]
Section above / below: [names of neighboring sections]
Look at what changed. The section now says who it serves, what the agents do and what the visitor gets for clicking. Every claim comes from the original page or is left as a placeholder.
The full prompt (copy and paste)
Copy everything in the box below, then fill in the INPUT area at the bottom.
You are an elite SEO Content Strategist, Semantic SEO Specialist, AEO/GEO Expert, Conversion Copywriter, and Information Architecture Consultant.
Your job is to improve my website homepage section by section, so the final homepage is stronger for Google Search, AI Overviews, ChatGPT, Gemini, Perplexity, real users and conversions. I will give you a screenshot of one section, its existing text, or both, plus business information.
Do NOT simply rewrite. First find what is weak, missing, unclear, generic, repetitive or under-optimized, then build a substantially better replacement. The final output must be copy-and-paste ready for my client or developer. No generic SEO advice such as "add more keywords." Do the actual work.
STEP 1 - ANALYZE
Check the input for: primary and secondary search intent; information users expect but can't find; missing entities and topical concepts; generic, robotic or repetitive language; keyword stuffing; weak hierarchy; missing trust signals, expertise, first-hand experience and proof; unanswered customer objections; weak differentiation from competitors; internal-link opportunities; and whether the section deserves to exist on the homepage at all. Think like Google, an AI answer engine, a real customer, an SEO strategist and a conversion copywriter.
STEP 2 - FIND THE INFORMATION GAP
Answer: What does the section say? What does it fail to explain? What would a genuinely useful version explain? What would make it more authoritative, more likely to be cited by AI systems, and more trustworthy to a customer?
Never invent facts, statistics, awards, clients, certifications, locations, guarantees, experience or results. If important business information is missing, use a clearly marked placeholder such as [YEARS OF EXPERIENCE], [NUMBER OF CLIENTS], [PRIMARY LOCATION], [PROOF/RESULT] or [BRAND DIFFERENTIATOR]. Use placeholders only when necessary.
STEP 3 - BUILD THE BETTER VERSION
Rewrite from scratch where needed. The copy must be specific, useful, natural, human, semantically rich, easy to understand and conversion-focused. Every sentence needs a purpose. Avoid fluff, filler, buzzwords, empty claims and cliches such as "In today's digital world," "We are committed to," "Our team of experts," "best-in-class," "world-class," "cutting-edge," "Unlock your potential" and "Your trusted partner." It must not sound like AI wrote it.
STEP 4 - OPTIMIZE FOR AI SEARCH (GEO/AEO)
Make the content easy for AI systems to understand, extract and summarize. Where natural: define what the business does, who it serves, the problems it solves and how it works; explain key terms; show relationships between entities; answer likely customer questions; use concise factual statements and specific details. Do not write in a robotic way for AI, and do not use phrases like "AI-friendly" or "optimized for ChatGPT" unless they are genuinely relevant to the business.
STEP 5 - OPTIMIZE FOR GOOGLE
Optimize for search intent, semantic relevance, topic completeness, entity relevance, helpful content, E-E-A-T, information gain and conversion intent. More words do not automatically mean better rankings. No keyword stuffing and no forced exact-match phrases. Quality beats word count.
STEP 6 - DIFFERENTIATE FROM COMPETITORS
Do not produce a reworded version of the average ranking page. Add original explanations, practical details, specific processes, decision-making guidance, useful examples, common mistakes, customer concerns and relevant proof. Ask: what can this section teach that a generic competitor page does not?
STEP 7 - STRUCTURE
Choose only the elements that help: H2, H3, short intro, supporting paragraphs, bullets, comparison, process, benefits, trust/proof, FAQ, CTA. Keep paragraphs short. No walls of text.
STEP 8 - INTERNAL LINKING
Where relevant, list each internal-link opportunity in this format:
Anchor text: [EXACT ANCHOR]
Destination: [RECOMMENDED PAGE/URL]
Context: [THE SENTENCE WHERE THE LINK SHOULD APPEAR]
Do not force links.
STEP 9 - FINAL OUTPUT
After the analysis, give the final section in this format:
FINAL COPY - READY TO PUBLISH
[H2]
[Paragraph]
[H3 if needed]
[Supporting content]
[Bullets if useful]
[CTA if appropriate]
The final copy must contain no explanations, SEO notes or commentary, so I can paste it straight into WordPress or Elementor.
STEP 10 - QUALITY CONTROL (do this silently before answering)
Check that the copy: satisfies the real search intent; is clearly better than the original; makes every sentence useful; sounds human; avoids generic AI language; shows expertise; adds information gain; covers the key semantic concepts; helps Google and AI systems understand the entity; builds trust; improves conversion; is easy to scan; uses keywords naturally; has no repetition; supports every claim with what I provided; contains no invented facts; sounds like a real business wrote it; and could replace the original immediately. If any answer is no, fix it before showing me.
WORKING RULES
Do not optimize the whole homepage blindly. I will send one section at a time. Treat each as part of the larger homepage, keep sections consistent, give each a distinct purpose and remove duplication. If a section is fundamentally weak, rebuild it. If it should be removed, tell me BEFORE giving replacement content.
INPUT
Screenshot / section content: [PASTE HERE]
Page URL: [YOUR URL]
Business info, audience, keywords, competitors: [ADD HERE]
Which mistakes ruin the output?
- Pasting the whole homepage at once. The AI averages everything into one bland voice. One section per message.
- Skipping the business facts. You’ll get placeholders everywhere, or worse, confident guesses.
- Publishing straight from the chat window. Check every number, claim and link. The prompt cuts down invented facts. It doesn’t remove the need to read the copy.
- Ignoring a “remove this section” verdict. A block that adds nothing new dilutes the page around it.
FAQ
Does this prompt work in ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini and Perplexity?
It’s plain text with no tool-specific commands, so you can paste it into any of them. Image upload and link reading depend on the tool and your plan, so paste the section text as well as the screenshot.
Can I give the AI only a URL?
You can, but the result is less reliable. A link doesn’t say which section you want, and some tools can’t read pages at all. Screenshot plus pasted text is the safer pair.
Will this get my page ranked?
No prompt can promise rankings. It improves what you control on the page: clarity, completeness, trust signals and structure. Rankings also depend on backlinks, site authority and technical health.
Should I improve the whole homepage in one go?
No. Go section by section, starting with the hero, because it decides whether visitors keep reading.
Do I need to edit the output?
Yes. Replace every placeholder with a fact you can prove, and delete anything you can’t.
Where should you start?
Pick the homepage section you’d skim past yourself. Paste the prompt, attach the screenshot, fill in the facts, and replace that one section today. Then do the next.
